Economic geography and business education teaching and research is anchored in our department at the University of Cologne.
Welcome to the Department of Business Education at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne!
The people in the department are dedicated to research and teaching in economic geography and business education. The department is made up of
- the Institute for Vocational, Economic and Social Education and
- the Institute of Economic and Social Geography.
The following professorships are assigned to the department:
- the Chair of Business Education and International Vocational Education Research - Prof. Dr. Matthias Pilz,
- the Professorship of Vocational and Business Education - Prof. Dr. Detlef Buschfeld,
- the Professorship of Economic Geography - Prof. Dr. Martina Fuchs and
- the Professorship of Business Education - currently vacant.
The department is closely linked to other institutions.
The Research Institute for Vocational Training in the Skilled Crafts (FBH) has been in existence since 1951 and is currently headed by Prof. Buschfeld.
For the area of international comparative vocational education research, Prof. Pilz founded the German Research Center for Comparative Vocational Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.).
Prof. Buschfeld is also chairman of the Kölner Arbeitskreis für Wirtschaft / Pädagogik e.V., which supports various projects on business education issues and has published the Kölner Zeitschrift für Wirtschaft und Pädagogik since 1986.
