Training course "Heterogenität als Herausforderung am Berufskolleg" [Diversity as a challenge in vocational colleges]
The continuing professional development concept „Heterogenität als Herausforderung am Berufskolleg" [Diversity as a challenge in vocational colleges] is designed as a state-wide continuing professional development programme aimed at supporting course-specific development initiatives with a focus on heterogeneous learning groups at vocational colleges. The programme consists of an external, process-accompanying training module (Module P) and three focus-specific, in-school training modules (Modules D, K and S).
Module P is the external part of the training concept and represents the ‘process support’ function / represents 'process support' for the educational programmes. It is aimed at course coordinators who, as part of the process support, take on the task of organising an in-school training programme within the course.
The in-school training programmes, which lead to projects within the course and are thus intended to contribute to teaching and course-specific development, focus on different areas in view of the heterogeneity found in vocational colleges. Depending on the needs of the course, the focus is placed on ‘differentiation’ (Module D), ‘skills’ (Module K) or ‘language’ (Module S). Each module is composed of different building blocks, and this modular structure is designed to enable a tailored programme for the respective participating courses.
The project focuses on the collaboration between the Department 46 (Teacher Training and Continuing Professional Development) and QUA-LiS. It should be emphasised that this time-limited project, which involves various partners, gives rise to a development initiative characterised by 'diversity' in every respect. This initiative is intended to successfully establish itself as a continuing professional development programme over time. The Institute for Vocational, Business and Social Pedagogy at the University of Cologne (Prof. Dr. Buschfeld) is actively involved in the collaborative work, both in the design of the project and in the piloting and ongoing implementation of the continuing professional development programme.
